Match Summary:

After holding out for the entire first half, Leicester found themselves a goal down minutes before the break following a fantastic set of quick passes that saw David Silva collect the ball behind the defensive line and feed Gabriel Jesus, who tapped in at close range.

Kevin De Bruyne then added his name to the scoresheet shortly after the interval with a fantastic shot that gave Kasper Schmeichel no chance as it rocketed into the back of the net.

Full Report:

City captain Vincent Kompany made his return to the starting line-up after another injury spell and was immediately in the action as he brought down Jamie Vardy and promptly earned himself a yellow card, in just the third minute.

David Silva tested Schmeichel with a first time shot from a good cross from Leroy Sane, but the Leicester keeper was well placed to push the ball over the bar.

Three minutes later, Sane flashed the ball in from the left flank but failed to find Raheem Sterling and the Foxes survived.

A big blow for the away side came around the half-hour mark when John Stones went down clutching his hamstring, forcing him off for Eliaquim Mangala.

A City penalty appeal midway through the half was waved away before the away side finally took the lead. Gabriel Jesus finished the easiest of tap-ins after a super City move culminating in a square ball from Silva into the Jesus’ path.

Leicester came close to an equaliser early in the second half after Vardy’s header was blocked before a Maguire effort ricocheted off the post.

Immediately after the chance, City broke swiftly on the counter with Sane down the left flank. The winger picked out De Bruyne at the top of the box, and he smashed the ball past Schmeichel into the back of the net to give the visitors their second goal.

As the game drew on, Schmeichel pulled out another good save to deny a deflected effort by Jesus but ultimately it was a comfortable victory for Pep Guardiola and his men as they maintained their unbeaten start to the season.
