COVID-19: Police Arrest 237 Suspects In Lagos Clubs For Violating Curfew

he police and the Lagos Safety Commission on Saturday sealed Lounge 38, Bode Thomas in Surulere and Victoria Club in Victoria Island for allegedly flouting COVID-19 rules.

The state government had earlier ordered the closure of nightclubs to curtail the spread of COVID-19.

According to tweets by Gawat Jubril the social media aide to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Commissioner of Police in Lagos Hakeem Odumosu led the team in the enforcement.

“The Lagos Commissioner of Police Mr Hakeem Odumosu together with the Lagos Safety Commission earlier today, led their team to enforce COVID-19 protocols across the state… First location: Lounge 38, Bode Thomas, Surulere,” he tweeted.

Breaking News!!! Inspector General Of Police Finally Bans SARS (FULL Details)

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Abubakar Adamu, has banned the personnel of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS).
The police force in a statement signed by PPRO, Frank Mba demanded that all stop and search duties and patrols by SARS be terminated with immediate effect.

This is following the nationwide outcry by Nigerians over the harassment and killing of youths by SARS.

The IGP also warned against invasion of privacy of citizens, an unauthorized search of phones and laptops.

The police boss ordered that no personnel should appear in mufti but uniforms during patrols or tactical assignments.

Part of the state that read:

“FSARS, STS, IRT & other Tactical @PoliceNG Squads operating at Federal, Zonal & Command levels are hereby BANNED from carrying out routine patrols & other conventional low-risk duties – stop and search duties, checkpoints, roadblocks, traffic checks, etc with immediate effect.

“All Tactical Squads must also desist from the invasion of the privacy of citizens particularly through indiscriminate and unauthorized search of mobile phones, Laptops and other smart devices.”

Dubai Police Confirms Hushpuppi’s Arrest For N168 billion Fraud: Dubai Police have confirmed the legal arrest of Hushpuppi for N168 billion fraud and money laundering.

Dubai based Nigerian socialite, Raymond Abbas also known as Hushpuppi, Olalekan Jacob Ponle also known as Woodbery, and ten others have been arrested by Dubai police on allegations of fraud.

Gulf News reports that the Dubai police on Thursday, confirmed their arrest following an extensive operation dubbed “Fox Hunt 2” which revealed a hidden online fraud network that was committing crimes outside the UAE.

This hidden online fraud network activities including money-laundering, cyber fraud, hacking, criminal impersonation, banking fraud and identity theft.

It is also reported that the successful raid resulted in confiscation of incriminating documents pertaining to a well-planned international fraud, worth Dh1.6 billion(N168 billion).

According to Lt General Abdullah Khalifa Al Merri, Commander-In-Chief of Dubai Police, in a reaction said the success of the operation was another feather on the cap of Dubai police, stating that the culprits would face the full weight of the law.
