Footage Of Baba Ijesha Abusing Minor Disturbing – Actor, Yomi Fabiyi Speaks Up

Published

on

Yomi Fabiyi, a Nollywood actor, has said the CCTV footage of actor Olanrewaju James, also known as Baba Ijesha, sexually abusing a minor is disturbing.

It would be recalled that when the police announced that Baba Ijesha was in their custody for allegedly sexually abusing a minor, Yomi Fabiyi was one of those who demanded to see the CCTV footage of the incident which the police said they had custody of.

The actor has now taken to Instagram to condemn the actions of Baba Ijesha following the release of the footage.

He, however, lamented that his hesitation to jump to a conclusion concerning the allegation against Baba Ijesha was taken to mean he was supporting the suspect.

He also condemned the act of using the minor as bait for Baba Ijesha who is said to have also molested the girl seven years ago.

According to him, “If the girl was your child, can you make her go through such trauma again in the name of gathering evidence?”
Yomi Fabiyi said this in a statement titled, ‘It Is Criminal To Molest A Minor Or Use A Minor As A Trap To Gather Evidence.’

The statement read, “It is disturbing and unfortunate viewing the images of the released CCTV footage of a minor been sexually abused by a senior colleague, Mr Lanre Omiyinka a.k.a Baba Ijesha. There is no excuse for this act. I condemn this act, it is embarrassing and disappointing.

“I have carefully waited for reliable options before jumping to a conclusion as done in a civilised society, a stance a handful misconstrued as supporting the suspect, it is a shame a handful in Nigeria still engage in social media recklessness in the name of social media age. NOWHERE HAVE I SUPPORTED OR CONDONE SUCH, someone just placed the idea and many without caution jumped on it. If you are not enlightened, SEEK KNOWLEDGE.

“The only person free from arrest and prosecution is the young lady. Several red lines were crossed, IGNORANCE is never an excuse. The key question every honest person should be asking is, “if the girl was your child, can you make her go through such trauma again in the name of gathering evidence? Where are the social services and domestic violence unit in Lagos State? Shelve press release and sentiments, swing into action.

“The law is sacrosanct and we all can agree a lot more needs to be done TO PROTECT CHILDREN IN NIGERIA. I am sad, we have failed many innocent children and it is time we rise to this challenge, THE WORLD IS WATCHING. Every Nigerian who honestly feel for the poor girl should take to the street in a peaceful protest, demand arrest of all connected to these ugly images, it is a cause worth risking everything for, do it for humanity and every innocent child.

“However, sentiment should never be an excuse to abuse the rights of every suspect or persons connected, that is the only way to achieve peace, fairness, justice and development. Thanks to the Lagos Police Commissioner and officers for their meticulous investigation and efforts so far. A society patient to balance a story seldom get misled or stand with lies. The media are doing a good job too. We want a safer Nigeria for every child.”

‘One Of The Toughest Decisions I Have Made Was Leaving My Marriage’ – BBNaija Star, Venita Akpofure Reveals

Published

on

Venita Akpofure, a Nigerian actress and model, has said that walking out of her marriage was one of the toughest decisions she has ever had to take.

In an interview with Sunday Scoop, Akpofure said, “One of the toughest decisions I have made was leaving my marriage. It became known to the public about seven months after I had moved out of my matrimonial home. I am grateful that I had a great support system that really helped me through that period. Being a single mother is not easy, especially if ones work a lot. I had to multi-task to make sure I’m there for my kids. I don’t consider being in the limelight as a fulfilment. Fulfilment, for me, comes from within, which is when I am meeting personal goals and providing for my kids.”

The former Big Brother Naija contestant also stated that celebrities have the responsibility of cautioning their fans when they use hate words or victimise others on the Internet.

She said, “Social media is toxic. There are some things I believe people should be responsible for. For example if I have a fan base that spews hate online, I would call them to order but some people feel they don’t owe that social responsibility to anyone. But, they do. I am not afraid to offend any fan on that basis. I am quite outspoken and I don’t hide my feelings. I think it is the social responsibility of celebrities to caution their fans.”

Akpofure also claimed that she would apologise to anyone on social media if she was wrong.

She said, “I am not one to dictate how anyone should handle their issues because we are all responsible for our actions and the consequences that follow them. Unfortunately, whether one is right or wrong, social media does not really care. Some years ago, I called out a public figure but did that resolve the issue? This means I have the social responsibility of taking back my words on social media. If I call out anyone publicly and I feel I was wrong, I would apologise in public too. I don’t believe I should apologise in secret after I had attacked the person publicly. The person may not need me to apologise publicly because I had done it in person but because of my integrity, I would do it.”

I Am Not Interested In Sleeping With Many Women — Singer, Rema Declares

on

It is well known that male celebrities usually have several women frolicking around them. There is also a stereotype that they are never faithful to one woman.

However, Mavin Records signee, Divine Ikubor, aka Rema, maintains that he only wants to love one woman and not violate his energy.

In a series of tweets on his birthday on May 1, he wrote, “I just want to love one girl and move on. I don’t want to sleep around with too many girls, violating my energy and breeding disrespect because of sex.”

The 2019 Headies Next Rated Award winner also had some words for people who considered his music childish.

He added, “(People say) his lyrics are childish. Yes, I am young. Let me grow. I am 20 years old. I barely write music. Let me have a collection of experiences.”

The singer also called on photographers to stop editing his pictures and making him look ‘perfect’.

He wrote, “Photographers, stop editing my pimples so people don’t feel I am perfect, and start pressuring themselves to have perfect skin.

“I will repeat my clothes. I don’t care if I have worn it before. Laugh at me all you want; I bought it with my hard earned money.

“I pray the fans realise the treasures they have and focus on preserving them, instead of turning them against one another. We will all die and leave this money and fame behind. Let love reign now before it’s too late.”
